The reign of Me Vs the World continues. In this report I rock Halloween and rearrange the house. My Halloween costume really came together! For those that don't know I was a Vault Dweller from "Fallout 3", one of the coolest video games in the galaxy. I had ordered this blue jumpsuit on Ebay months ago, but then dragged my heels working on it. I was hesitant as I didn't want to sew on the yellow stripe and number cuz I'm not the world's greatest seamstress. But then I had the idea of painting them on! That worked great and two coats later it was that much closer to my Vault Dweller dreams! I then distressed the jumpsuit by ripping holes in it, taking off a couple limbs and lighting it on fire! There's even real blood on it from when I sliced my finger open while cutting holes with a serated knife! FUN!

For accessories I painted a couple water/rayguns that I just HAPPENED to have on hand. Weird, right? They came out great and I had picked up some Harry Potter goggles at the Halloween store and repainted them as well. At one of the parties we went to that nite there was another woman wearing the same goggles, but mine were better. Take THAT, Amelia Earheart. I made holsters out of some vinyl I had around the house and a couple of plastic buckles I picked up at Michael's. The costume was great but really people, you need to get on the band wagon. Only a couple people knew who I was. Yes internet, I know you are smart, but you weren't there! Maybe I'll wear it to the grocery store. Always gotta be ready for the Apocalypse! I know I am!

Let's go a-hauntin'!

I'm not the biggest fan of haunted houses. I turn into a giggling twelve year old girl who screams at everything. Its kinda sad. But everyone else is immensely amused by it, so I go along. Last night we went to possibly the best haunted forest in the universe. Trust me, I'd know. It was a bit of a trek from Baltimore but WELL WORTH IT! Markoff's Haunted Forest in Poolesville, my hat is off to you. It was really more of a theme park with attractions and food vendors while you wait for your group to get called, along with a huge bonfire to keep ya toasty. The overall level of professionalism is really astounding and I can only imagine how many people work it, not only in the forest but overall.

Sunset drive of Horror

Nothing like a spooky ass sunset to set the mood!

Fire dance with me
I assure you this was a fire dancer. There was a crew of them and they were pretty good. I can also almost guarantee you that they are DC goth kids. Gotta love em!

Bonfire of the manatees

FIRE!!!!!!!!!!

So I don't have pics of anything actually scary. I was too busy screaming and running away. The actual forest is full of people with chainsaws running after you, different themed houses with horrible, horrible things waiting for you, and hallways that close in on you. At one point we were in a hallway that was just big enough to pass through and pitch black so you had to feel your way along. I was almost towards the end, feeling my way along when I felt a face. And then it growled at me. KUDOS!!!

Open letter to the boring assholes of the universe

Look, I know I don't fit in. That's not news to me. Yes I am aware I have bright red hair, a schizophrenic fashion sense and visible tattoos. And do you know what?

How I look has absolutely no effect on how I perform my job function.

If YOU are distracted or offended by my presence, then turn around. Don't start a conversation with me. Ignore me. Give me dirty looks in the hallway. That has been working just fine until now. Yesterday morning I was told that I have to cover all of my tattoos. This includes my entire right arm and the backs of both legs. So all my limbs must be clothed to save the precious delicate eyes of the corporate world.

I have had the displeasure of working at many fine fascist companies that feel the need to dictate to their employees how to look. Those companies include Texas American Title, Levin Group and currently, Black and Decker. If I had ANYTHING to do with dealing with customers or portraying to the public the "image of the company", I would understand this discrimination a little bit more. And this is certainly discrimination. BUT I DON'T. While at all of these companies I have done nothing more than sit at my desk, all day, and work. I don't deal with customers, I rarely talk to coworkers except for clarification on my tasks. SO. WHAT THE FUCK DOES IT MATTER WHAT I LOOK LIKE?! And I have even "toned it down" and still been told that yo, yer curvaceous body and wicked sick fashion sense is really making it difficult for me to finish this sales call/power point presentation/doughnut.

So. Now I feel no need to try to be pleasant at work. No smiles in the hallway. No salutations. No eye contact. You are all a bunch of assholes and I'm fucking sick of it. Go eat a dick.

How to be a Chili Making GOD

This is a rough guide on how to make the best chili in the universe. I don't really follow recipies, I think that you should add spices and ingredients as needed. Thus making me a TERRIBLE baker, but a KICK ASS cook. Just ask any of my friends lucky enough to have had a taste. This is how I make Chili and succeed at being AWESOME.

I usually use bison in my chili, its lower fat and cholesterol than turkey and more flavorful for just a fraction of the cost more. A little over a pound can make about 4-5 servings. Yum. I use one pot, cuz doing dishes sucks. I start with a pot, heat it up on medium-hi flame and sautee the meat until its cook and most of the water/juice/fatty goodness have evaporated.

Sometimes I use onions or mushrooms or other veggies. It is really up to you. This is a low carb recipie so no beans will be used, but by all means, add them if you want them! Sautee that shiznit!

I then add a can of tomatoes, usually with some sort of spice combo, pepers, onions, chilies, etc...

2 tablespoons of tomato paste. Helps to add flavor and thicken it up.

1 cup of broth, I use BEEF, but anything will work. Its just to add liquid so that you can add some flavor and cook it down to make it thick.

These are the base spices you want to use. I don't really measure..... so, figure it out. I add more, but I can't give away ALL my secrets, now can I?

While I'm doing all this I roast a giant head of garlic. YUM! Heat the oven up to 400-450, chop off the top of the head to expose all the cloves, drizzle olive oil, sprinkle with salt. Here I have used BACON SALT! Why? Cuz its AWESOME! Let bake/roast for 40-50 minutes, until the cloves are mushy and come out easily.

Mash em up a bit and add them to the chili.

The SECRET INGREDIENT!!! Bourbon is the best but dark beers work great too. Different beers will make the chili taste different, so try all kinds! I have!

There you have it. Now, this stupifying concoction must, MUST simmer for AT EAST 3 HOURS! Yeah, you heard me. This ain't small time. We're doing it right! I usually simmer covered for 3 hours so that all the flavors mix and then uncovered for another hour so that it thickens up. And really, once you put it all together it does the work for you, so put it on and then go watch a movie, or do your hair, or play video games. I do all of the above.

This is the finished product!!!

I top with shredded cheese and sour cream. Add some hot sauce if you're nuts (ANDREW) or anything else you crazy kids can come up with. Experiment, use different ingredients, but ultimately, this is the intended result....

Enjoy! And send me any comments you might have!

Artscape 2009 Wrapup!

Artscape was GREAT this year. The weather was so much nicer this year, which makes it seem like the Apocalypse is coming. Usually its in the high 90's by this point in Baltimore but this year it has been rainy and cool. Dunno who's to thank for that, but, THANKS!! There were some wind issues which made it a bit stressful. My boothmate was a ceramicist and we had a couple scares with the wind almost knocking her stuff over. But we teamed up and saved the day! Best boothmate EVAH!!We were next to Martha Rotten who is super cute and makes the COOLEST jewelry and weird accessories. I bought a bird skull necklace from her that I LOVE!!

I almost lost my voice giving out High Fives, cuz you can't be tame about that. You gotta go all out!! And screaming over tiny little dogs in sweaters and strollers. I think those people are crazy but it makes me laugh like a hyena. I can't help it.

Thanks to all the people who picked up gear from me and took the time to talk to me!! You guys make it all worthwhile! And thanks to all my kick ass friends who helped me!!! You guys are the BEST!!! Props to Operation DRAGONFLY!! Check out more pics on my Flickr.
